RAJSHAHI, Aug 7, 2026 (BSS) - Two youths were detained by local residents and handed over to police after allegedly posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB) and attempting to extort money in the Piadapara area of Arani Municipality under Bagha Upazila in Rajshahi.

According to local sources, two individuals named Hasibul Hasan and Sohel Rana went to the house of Sohel Rana, a resident of Piadapara, identifying themselves as members of the DB police on Wednesday. 
It is alleged that they intimidated him there and took Taka 60,000 and a mobile phone.

The next day, on Thursday, when they went to the same house again to demand money, locals became suspicious. Later, they   detained the duo. 

Upon receiving the information, Bagha Thana police went to the spot, rescued them, and took them to the police station.
