MYMENSINGH, Aug 7, 2026 (BSS) - Five coaches, including a power car, of the Dhaka-bound Jamalpur Commuter train derailed in Gafargaon upazila this morning, disrupting rail services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route.

The accident occurred around 9:20 am near the Shibganj Road railway crossing adjacent to Gafargaon Railway Station.

Mymensingh Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Akhtar Hossain said the train was travelling from Jamalpur to Dhaka when five of its coaches derailed just before entering Gafargaon Railway Station.

He said no casualties were reported immediately.

A relief train has been dispatched to the accident site to recover the derailed coaches and clear the track, the OC said, adding that restoration work would begin immediately.

Rail services on the route are expected to resume within four to five hours after the recovery operation is completed, he added.
