RAJSHAHI, June 12, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long exhibition competition featuring startups, science projects and innovative ideas was held in Paba Upazila today to nurture students' creative talents and promote science-based thinking and innovation.

The programme, organized under the Educational Excellence Support Scheme of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, was inaugurated at the Upazila Parishad hall room.

Students from classes VI to XII of different educational institutions across the upazila participated in the event, which was arranged as part of the Secondary Education Development Programme.

With the slogan "Talent, science and innovation for the country, Bangladesh first," the event was formally inaugurated by Member of Parliament Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon through ribbon-cutting and the release of balloons and festoons.

Speaking as the chief guest, Milon said the government has formulated a people-oriented and employment-focused budget, placing the highest emphasis on education, healthcare and improving the living standards of common people.

The lawmaker praised the innovative projects presented by students on national security, low-cost electricity generation, space science and solutions to local challenges, describing them as promising initiatives.

The programme was chaired by Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin.

A total of 12 stalls were set up by students from various educational institutions in the upazila.

The exhibits featured entrepreneurial initiatives based on local resources, practical applications of scientific concepts learned in classrooms and innovative solutions to everyday problems, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and visitors.

In the Startup category, students showcased socially beneficial and profitable business models utilizing local resources.

In the Science Project category, students presented practical demonstrations of theories learned from textbooks.

Under the Innovation Idea category, participants introduced simple, creative and implementable concepts aimed at reducing human hardship and labour.

Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mahmud Hasan, Upazila Academic Supervisor Ayesha Naznin, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Abdur Razzak, Joint Convener Sultan Ahmed, teachers, students and guardians from different educational institutions attended the event.
