JHENAIDAH, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - A farmer was killed after being struck by lightning while working in a field at Poltadanga village under Harinakundu upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Azizul Islam, 35, son of Abdur Rahim of Chatkabaria village in the upazila.

According to local sources, Azizul was working in a field in the area during heavy rain. He was struck by lightning and died on the spot.

Harinakundu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Asit Kumar Roy confirmed the matter.
