NARAIL, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - Two brothers drowned in the Bhatia area under Sadar upazila of the district this morning. 

The deceased were identified as Abu Bakkar, 5, and his younger brother Omar Faruk, 2, sons of Majedul Sheikh of Bhatia village.

Officer-in-Charge of Narail Sadar Police Station Ajoy Kumar Kundu said the two brothers were playing on the bank of a pond when the younger brother, Omar Faruk, accidentally fell into the water at around 10:30 am.

While trying to rescue him, the elder brother, Abu Bakkar, also fell into the pond and drowned.

Later, family members rescued the two children and rushed them to Narail General Hospital, where the duty doctor declared them dead.
