Two killed, four injured in a Rajshahi road accident

RAJSHAHI, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a truck in Mohanpur Upazila of Rajshahi. 

The accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. today in the Kharail area along the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway.
 
The identity of one of the deceased has been confirmed. He was Abdullah Al Firoz, 40, Cash In-Charge of the Keshorhat Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC in Mohanpur Upazila. He hailed from Chak Shyamrai village in Manda Upazila of Naogaon and was the son of Mohammad Ali. 

The identity of the other victim, believed to be around 50 years old, has not yet been established. Four injured passengers, including a woman, have been admitted to the hospital.
     
Mdashwer Hossain Khan, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mohanpur Police Station, confirmed the identity of Firoz. 

He said Firoz died on the spot. Fire Service personnel later rescued the injured and transported them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared another victim dead.
 
Senior Staff Nurse, MD. Ujjal, who was on duty at the hospital's emergency department, said the identities of both deceased individuals were initially unknown to hospital authorities.
 
Their bodies have been kept in the hospital morgue as unidentified. The four injured victims have been admitted to Ward No. 8 for treatment.
 
SI Mdashwer Hossain Khan further stated that all the casualties were passengers of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw. 

The truck driver and his helper fled the scene following the accident. 
A case is being filed under the Road Transport Act in connection with the incident, he added.
