CHATTOGRAM, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - Two people, including a local leader of the banned Awami League's women's wing were detained at Fatikchhari upazila on allegations of producing promotional leaflets for the party.

The detainees were identified as Sumi Akhter, a former union parishad member and a leader of Mohila Awami League from the upazila's Baktapur area, and Ujjal, a computer operator.

According to police, leaders and activists of Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal detained the duo at a shopping complex in Fatikchhari Sadar on Monday night after receiving information that leaflets promoting the banned Awami League were being printed at a computer shop.

They later handed the two suspects over to police.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Police Station Rabiul Alam Khan said the two individuals had been brought to the police station for questioning.

"An investigation into the allegations is underway, and legal action is being taken accordingly," the OC said.
