RANGPUR, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - A farmers' rally was held on Tuesday in
Nabanidas village of Gangachara upazila here to make farmers aware and to
give them a proper understanding of overall agricultural management to
increase crop production.
The District Information Office organised the programme for more than fifty
male and female farmers of the area with Rangpur District Information Office
Assistant Director Md Alamgir Kabir in the chair.
Rangpur District Information Office Director Dr Md Mofakkharul Iqbal attended
the rally as the chief guest.
Sub-assistant Agricultural Officers of Gangachara Upazila Md Wazed Ali, Mst
Shahnaz Begum and Md Shahinur Islam delivered speeches as special guests at
the event.
As the main speaker at the rally, Gangachara Upazila Additional Agricultural
Officer Mst Marufa Khatun discussed agricultural management in detail and
answered various questions of the farmers at the rally.
The chief guest said that the present government is committed to implementing
the election manifesto.
"The government has taken various programmes for the development of
agriculture and farmers, providing family cards and farmer cards,
agricultural loan waivers, tree plantations, vehicles for women and canal
digging.
The farmer's card is not only a means of providing financial incentives;
through it, farmers will be able to procure fertilizers, high-quality seeds,
pesticides and other agricultural inputs easily at affordable prices.
He told the farmers that to increase agricultural production and ensure safe
food, they should apply fertilizers, irrigation and pesticides at the right
time, determine the right amount of inputs for each crop and be aware of
disease and pest management.
He also emphasized on environment-friendly and sustainable agricultural
systems and urged farmers to cultivate organically.
