CHATTOGRAM, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - Sitakunda Thana Police filed a sabotage case against 72 local leaders and activists of banned Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League last night on charges of attempts to destabilize the country.
Sub Inspector Dhantosh Chakma of Faujdarhat Police Outpost lodged the case with the Sitakunda Model Police Station, naming 37 individuals and 35 others unidentified.
Meanwhile, the police arrested three of the accused.
According to the case statement, the accused carried out a flash procession on Friday afternoon along the port-bound road adjacent to DC Park in South Salimpur.
It is alleged that participants chanted slogans and attempted organized sabotage to provoke public panic. After inspecting the scene, police discovered shell casings and remnants of an exploded crude bomb, commonly referred to as a cocktail, said the case statement.
During a follow-up raid, officers arrested Syed Ashraf, Saifuddin Sikder Parvez and Ashraful Islam.
The accused are charged with conspiracy against the state, endangering public safety and engaging in subversive activities.
Investigation Officer Mohammad Alamgir from the Sitakunda Model Police Station confirmed the arrests, adding that efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.
