RANGPUR, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - Leaders of BNP and its affiliate organizations
in a discussion and dua mahfil have said that from the beginning, the
leadership and guidance of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was full of
patriotism and honesty.
They said this at the event titled "Zia and Bangladeshi Nationalism"
organized by Zia Sangsad, Rangpur at the BNP office at the city's Grand Hotel
Intersection marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President
Ziaur Rahman on Sunday afternoon.
Former BNP's MP candidate for Rangpur-3 constituency, former president of
Rangpur Bar Association and veteran BNP leader Advocate Abdul Qayyum Mondal
presided over the programme.
Senior joint convener of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP, former general secretary
of Carmichael College Central Students' Union and popular politician of
Rangpur with a clean image Md Shahidul Islam Mizu spoke as the chief guest.
Senior member of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP and President of Rangpur
Journalists' Union Alhaj Salequzzaman Salek, General Secretary of Rangpur Bar
Association and Public Prosecutor Advocate Md Aftab Uddin, former DAB
President of Rangpur Medical College Dr Mahmudul Islam Sarkar, Rangpur
Medical College Chhatra Dal President Al Mamun, also spoke.
The speakers highlighted the political philosophy of Shaheed President Ziaur
Rahman, the core ideals of Bangladeshi nationalism and various aspects of his
contribution to the development and establishment of democracy in the
country.
In his speech, Chief guest Md Shahidul Islam Mizu said that Shaheed President
Ziaur Rahman played an important role in consolidating and strengthening the
independence, sovereignty and national unity of the country.
The two principles that Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman cherished from the
beginning and those guided his actions were patriotism and honesty.
In the context of Bangladeshi politics, President Ziaur Rahman and honesty
are essentially synonymous highlighting the height of his human achievement.
"Ziaur Rahman asserted that politics ought to serve humanity rather than
personal gain. We must strive for the betterment of society by adhering to
his principles," he mentioned.
He called on everyone to work unitedly in building the country by embracing
Ziaur Rahman's ideals and the spirit of Bangladeshi nationalism under the
leadership of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Advocate Abdul Qayyum Mondal said that everyone should understand Shaheed
Zia's philosophy and convey it to the public and the new generation to build
the country by embracing his ideals and the spirit of Bangladeshi
nationalism.
Rangpur district BNP member and former councilor Liton Parvez, metropolitan
BNP members Selim Chowdhury, Ashfaqul Basunia Azad and Abu Ali Mithu,
Metropolitan BNP member Rashed Un Nabi Khan Biplob, leaders of various
affiliate organizations of BNP, teachers, doctors, journalists and local
dignitaries were present.
