MYMENSINGH, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - Member of Parliament for Mymensingh-5 (Muktagacha) and South District BNP Convener Mohammed Zakir Hossain Bablu today distributed financial assistance from his discretionary fund among 36 underprivileged people in the upazila.
The assistance was distributed at a function held at the Muktagacha Upazila Parishad auditorium with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Krishno Chondro in the chair.
Among others, Upazila BNP Convener Habibur Rahman Khan Ratan, former mayor Shahidul Islam Shahid, Upazila Krishok Dal President Mokhlesur Rahman, Paurashava BNP General Secretary Murshiduzzaman Khan Saifual, MP ATM Elias, Upazila BNP Joint Conveners Jahangir Hasan, Hafizur Rahman Khan Monju and Motiur Rahman Khokon, and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muktagacha Police Station Kamrul Islam attended the programme.
Addressing the programme as the chief guest, Bablu said the government is working to fulfil its electoral commitments and improve the living standards of people at the grassroots level.
He reiterated his commitment to building a "Beautiful Muktagacha" through collective efforts and maintaining social harmony beyond political considerations.
Highlighting ongoing development activities in the constituency, the lawmaker said canal excavation work has already begun in different areas under various government initiatives.
He said tree plantation and afforestation programmes would be undertaken along the banks of the excavated canals to enhance environmental sustainability and maintain ecological balance.
Bablu also reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable people, adding that financial assistance programmes would continue in phases according to the needs of the underprivileged.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, saying the assistance would help them meet their immediate needs.
