MADARIPUR, May 8, 2026 (BSS) - Lawmaker from Madaripur-3 Anisur Rahman Khokon Talukdar today said the government has already begun working to turn promises into reality made to people before the February 12 national elections.
He said, "Over the past two and a half months, initiatives such as family cards, farmer cards, allowances for imams and athletes and canal excavation projects have been underway."
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an exchange-of-views meeting organized by the Lakshmipur Union BNP and its affiliated organizations at Suryamoni Bazar in Kalkini upazila, following the inauguration of the re-excavation work of four canals here.
Khokon Talukdar added, "We are fellow fighters of Tarique Rahman and workers of his party, as well as members of parliament. We are not sitting idle. We have also started working for your development. The roads you proposed to me today, most of them are awaiting tender approval."
Lakshmipur Union BNP President Fazlur Rahman Sardar presided over the meeting and General Secretary Ziaul Haque Sardar moderated.
Among others, special guests included former president of Kalkini Upazila BNP and freedom fighter Fazlul Haque Bepari, General Secretary Mahbub Hossain Munshi and Executive Engineer of Kalkini Upazila LGED Rezaul Karim.
