DINAJPUR, May 6, 2026 (BSS) - Construction work to pave 10 previously unpaved roads was officially inaugurated today in Biral and Bochaganj upazilas of the district, marking a significant step toward improving rural infrastructure and communication.
The project, estimated to cost Taka 14.60 crore, is being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) with the aim of enhancing mobility and easing transportation for people at the grassroots level.
Dinajpur-2 constituency Member of Parliament Sadiq Riaz Chowdhury Pinak inaugurated the work at a function as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, he reiterated his commitment to developing all sectors—including transportation, education, and infrastructure—across 17 unions and two municipalities under Biral and Bochaganj upazilas. He said that the initiatives are part of a phased plan aligned with his electoral promises.
Referring to the current political context, he said the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has already initiated development activities shortly after assuming office, expressing optimism that progress would continue nationwide.
Emphasizing the importance of infrastructure, Pinak said that a sustainable communication system is vital for achieving national development goals. He also highlighted the government’s broader vision, which prioritizes rural infrastructure development, adding that efforts are underway to ensure all unpaved roads across the country are gradually brought under paved networks.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by LGED Executive Engineer Md. Masudur Rahman. Among those present were Biral Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zimran Mohammad Sayek, Bochaganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Faruk Hossain, along with local administrative officials, political leaders, and residents.
