BOGURA, May 5, 2026 (BSS)- The Boro procurement drive has officially begun in the district today, which will continue until July 31.

The inaugural ceremony of the procurement drive was held at the Sadar Local Storage Depot (LSD) at 11:00 AM. Rezaul Karim Badsha, Member of Parliament for Bogura-6 (Sadar), attended the event as the chief guest.

Raziya Sultana, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division, presided over the event while  District Food Controller Kazi Saifuddin and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Abdul Wazed were present as the special guests.

According to the District Food Department, the procurement targets for the current Boro season are set at 17,781 metric tons of paddy, 72,602 metric tons of parboiled rice, and 3,811 metric tons of Atap rice. The government-fixed procurement prices are Tk 36 per kg for paddy, Tk 49 per kg for parboiled rice, and Tk 48 per kg for Atap rice.

Furthermore, to ensure fair price, initiatives have been taken to procure paddy directly from the farmers. To facilitate this, genuine farmers are being registered through the "Krishak App" and the database maintained by the Department of Agriculture Extension.
