LALMONIRHAT, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - A college student has died after being electrocuted in Kaliganj Upazila of the district this afternoon. 
 
The incident occurred on this afternoon in Chapartol Purbapara area of Kakina union.

The victim was identified as Munaim Shahriar Samrat , 19 , son of late Khorshed Alam , hailed from Mahishkhocha area of Aditmari upazila.

He was a student of Uttar Bangla College Aditmari upazila.
 
According to family members and local sources, Samrat was climbing a betel nut tree near his house at that time he accidentally came into contact with the tin roof of a cowshed that was electrically charged. Immediately he got electrocuted and stuck with the tree.
 
Later local rescued and rushed him to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead.
 
Kaliganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Osman Gani confirmed the matter.
