KHULNA, April 20, 2026 (BSS) – Acting Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Nazmul Haque today inaugurated the divisional   measles-rubella vaccination campaign in the premises of the Chest Disease Hospital at Phulbari gate here.

Divisional Health Department organized the programme.

Addressing the function as chief guest, Nazmul Haque said the recent surge in measles infections across the country has led to an increase in child mortality.

Emphasizing that today’s children are the future of the nation, he noted that ensuring their health protection is essential for building a healthy generation.

He said the government has undertaken prompt and effective measures to protect children from the outbreak, and the nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign has now commenced in Khulna as part of that initiative.

A total of 1,597,821 children across the 10 districts in Khulna division have been targeted to administer  a single dose of the measles-rubella vaccine. The campaign will be conducted through 14,936 vaccination centres, with 22,989 vaccinators and 7,754 volunteers engaged in the effort.

The campaign, which began on April 20, will continue every day from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, except government holidays.

An online registration system has been introduced for the campaign.

Parents of children aged between 6 months and less than 5 years can register through the website vaxepi.gov.bd using online birth registration.

However, children without birth registration will also be eligible to receive the vaccine without prior registration.
