Over 186,000 children to get measles-rubella vaccine in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - Around 186,000 children aged 6 to 59 months will be vaccinated against measles and rubella in the district under the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026, officials said today.

The three-week-long campaign will begin tomorrow (April 20) aiming to ensure full immunisation coverage across the district.

The information was shared at a press conference held at the Bagerhat Civil Surgeon Office Hallroom.

District Civil Surgeon Dr A S M Mahbubul Alam presided over the program. Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Habibur Rahman and local journalists were also present at the briefing.

Officials said vaccination will be provided at community clinics, hospitals, and educational institutions across the district from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.

The campaign will be carried out in all upazilas with special arrangements in schools and community centres. "We are committed to ensuring maximum coverage so that no eligible child is left out of vaccination," they added. 

They also urged mass awareness through media and community engagement to ensure successful implementation of the campaign.
