BAGERHAT, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - The monthly meeting of the Bagerhat District law and order committee was held here this morning with Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. Baten in the chair.
Bagerhat-1 constituency MP Principal Mashiur Rahman Khan was present at the meeting as the chief guest while Bagerhat Sadar-2 constituency MP Sheikh Manjurul Haque Rahad as the special guest.
Also present at the time were Police Superintendent Md. Hasan Chowdhury, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Bagerhat District Ameer Maulana Rezaul Karim, Bagerhat 250-bed Hospital Director Dr. Asim Samaddar, District Agricultural Farm House Deputy Director Dr. Motahar Hossain and Kachua Upazila Executive Officer Md. Ali Hasan, among others.
The meeting was informed that 22 people have been sentenced to prison under the Narcotics Act in a drive conducted under the Narcotics Control Program.
Besides, a total of 29 cases have been filed for selling adulterated products. A fine of Tk 32,000 has been imposed in 7 cases under the Agricultural Marketing Act. A fine of Tk 87,000 has been collected in the task force operation.
In addition, 41 cases have been recorded under the Road Accident Prevention and Arms Act.
The meeting praised the success of the Coast Guard in keeping the Sundarbans free of bandits and decided to establish a sub-camp in the Sharankhola area of ??the Sundarbans East Forest Division to maintain law and order.
Discussions were held on taking strict measures to stop kidnapping in prisons, illegal canal cutting and fish farming by crossing the embankment, increasing activities to recover illegal weapons, monitoring terrorist activities and strengthening activities to stop the sale of petrol in the open market.
The meeting was informed that the prices of fish, meat and vegetables are currently stable in the district. It has been decided to continue the mobile court activities as an ongoing process.
In addition, there was a detailed discussion on what to do to prevent robbery, banditry, murder, riots, theft and human trafficking.
The meeting also informed that the measles vaccination program will start this month in the district.
Executive officers of nine upazilas of the district, officers-in-charge of various police stations, Coast Guard, Navy members, members of the District Law and Order Committee and media personnel joined the event.
