7km road widening work begins in Feni

FENI, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - The widening work of a key connecting road between Dhalia and Lemuya unions in Sadar upazila officially commenced this morning.

Feni Sadar constituency Parliament Member Professor Joynal Abedin VP laid the foundation stone of the project. 

The initiative, undertaken by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), aims to expand the approximately 7-kilometer road from its current width of 12 feet to 18 feet, improving connectivity and transportation in the area.

The project is being implemented under the Upazila and Union Road Widening and Strengthening Project of the Chattogram Division. 

The project work is being implemented at a cost of Taka 19.82 crore. Authorities have set August 19, 2027, as the deadline for completion.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sultana Nasrin Kanta, Upazila Engineer Deepto Das Gupta and several local political and community leaders, including Kamrul Hasan Masud, Abul Khair Lincoln, Fazlur Rahman Bakul, Aman Uddin Kaiser Sabbir were present.

Speaking at the event, MP Joynal Abedin emphasized the importance of community cooperation to ensure timely and transparent completion of the project. 

He urged residents to remain vigilant against any form of corruption or irregularities, including extortion and tender manipulation.

He expressed optimism that once completed, the upgraded road will significantly enhance travel convenience and contribute to the overall development of the region.
