BRAHMANBARIA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 10,100 litres of illegally stored fuel oil were seized and three businessmen fined during a joint operation conducted in Sadar upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The drive was carried out in Gokarna Ghat area by the Sadar Upazila Administration in collaboration with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9), Brahmanbaria Camp. The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Nasrin.
According to mobile court sources, the operation followed confidential information that certain shop owners were stockpiling fuel without authorization and selling it at inflated prices, thereby creating an artificial crisis in the area.
During the drive, authorities seized approximately 10,000 litres of diesel and 100 litres of octane from three shops while they were open for business. The three shop owners were fined Taka 20,000, Taka 20,000, and Taka 10,000 respectively for illegal storage and overpricing.
Executive Magistrate Nasrin said that clear evidence of illegal stockpiling was found, and none of the accused had valid licenses to store or sell fuel oil.
Md. Noor Nabi, Company Commander of RAB-9's Brahmanbaria camp, said the operation was conducted based on intelligence reports of illegal fuel storage in grocery shops, garages, and workers' residences. He added that such drives would continue to prevent artificial shortages and curb unlawful stockpiling.
