MANIKGANJ, April 3, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested eight members of an inter-district dacoit gang in connection with robberies at two factories in Shibalaya and Ghior upazilas of the district before and after Eid.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mohoram Ali disclosed the information at a press briefing this afternoon.

He said the arrests were made during special drives, while looted goods and cash were also recovered from different locations.

The arrestees were identified as Md Masud Rana, Md Sajedul Islam Sajid, Md Sagar Pramanik, Md Aktar Hossain, Md Al Amin, Abu Bakar Siddique, Billal Hossain and Abdus Salam.

According to police, a group of armed dacoits carried out robberies on March 23 at Asatia Board and Paper Mill in Shibalaya upazila and Advance Atware Garments factory in Ghior upazila.

During the incidents, the gang looted valuable items including electronic equipment, mobile phones, computers, CCTV cameras and cash.

The Additional SP said legal action has been taken against the arrested persons, while drives are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
