RAJSHAHI, April 3, 2026 (BSS)- In response to the rising outbreak of measles
across the country, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has launched a large-
scale public awareness campaign through leaflet distribution across all 30
wards in the city today.
Through this initiative, city residents are being informed about the symptoms
of measles, preventive measures, what to do if infected, and the importance
of timely vaccination for children.
Under the initiative of RCC, workers are going door-to-door distributing
leaflets and providing necessary advice to raise health awareness among the
public.
In this regard, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, "Measles is a
highly contagious disease. It can be prevented through increased public
awareness, ensuring timely vaccination, and seeking prompt medical
treatment."
"We are working comprehensively to ensure the well-being of city residents
and will continue such awareness activities in the future. We urge residents
to remain aware, ensure timely vaccination of children as per schedule, and
seek medical attention quickly if someone becomes infected," he added.
The official inauguration of the leaflet distribution campaign was held at
Ward No. 11 office in the city. Chief Health Officer Dr. FAM Anjuman Ara
Begum attended the event and along with health workers, distributed measles
prevention leaflets door-to-door among residents.
Dr Anjuman Ara Begum stated that due to the increasing outbreak of measles,
leaflet distribution campaign began simultaneously in all 30 wards, with
health workers going door-to-door to spread awareness and provide guidance on
measles prevention.
"Measles is a preventable disease. By administering two doses of the measles
vaccine to children aged between 9 to 18 months, they can be kept safe,
healthy, and free from risk," she further added.
Infants should be exclusively breastfeeding for the first six months. These
vaccines are being provided free of charge by Rajshahi City Corporation
(RCC).
