NETROKONA, March 29, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration has appointed “Tag Officers” at all filling stations across the district to prevent irregularities in fuel supply and ensure transparency and accountability.
Additional District Magistrate Wahiduzzaman confirmed the development, stating that the initiative aims to maintain discipline in fuel distribution and protect consumers from malpractice.
As part of the effort, the district administration conducted a day-long special drive recently. During the operation, authorities seized approximately 3,500 liters of illegally stored diesel. Officials also took action against transport operators for overcharging passengers on buses.
A mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Iqbal Hossain, carried out an operation in Hatkhola Bazar area under Maugati union in Sadar upazila based on confidential information. The team recovered around 3,500 liters of diesel stored illegally in drums at an unlicensed shop owned by Zahirul Chowdhury.
The mobile court fined the trader Taka 10,000. The seized fuel has been handed over to two local Union Parishad members, with instructions to sell it to the public at government-fixed prices through a nearby filling station.
Meanwhile, another drive was conducted in Barhatta upazila to restore order on roads and curb transport irregularities. The operation, led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajedul Islam, targeted bus counters in front of Barhatta Police Station, Atpara More, and Model More.
During the drive, eight cases were filed under different sections of the Road Transport Act, 2018. Offenses included overcharging passengers, driving without valid licenses, and improper parking. Authorities collected fines totaling Taka 10,200 from those involved.
The district administration has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such drives to ensure fair practices in both fuel distribution and transport services.
