KHULNA, Mar 28, 2026 (BSS) - A devastating fire broke out at Jamjam Daroga Bazar in the Phulbari Gate area of Khulna city early Saturday, leaving at least four shops and two warehouses completely gutted.

According to local people and firefighters, the fire originated in the early hours of the morning and quickly spread to adjacent business establishments due to the presence of highly flammable materials.
 
The blaze spread rapidly, causing extensive damage before firefighters and local residents brought it under control.

The firefighters could not immediately determine the cause of the fire, said Md Abdul Malek, Deputy Director of Khulna Divisional Fire Service and Civil Defense office.

Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident, said the official.

On receiving information, Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju rushed to the spot and inspected the damage area. 

The administrator expressed his deep sympathy and assured the businessmen of all possible assistance from the city authorities. 

He said that a detailed assessment of the damages would be carried out and necessary support measures would be taken accordingly.
