RANGPUR, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) - On the occasion of Martyrs' Day and
International Mother Language Day-2026, Rangpur Sahitya-Sangskriti Parishad
(RSSP) organised a special literary programme dedicated to the language
martyrs and paid tribute to them.
After paying tribute to the language martyrs by laying wreaths at the Central
Shaheed Minar on Saturday morning, RSSP leaders, members and workers gathered
at their office in the city's Town Hall premises for this special programme
at noon.
Eminent writer and educationist Professor Mohammad Shah Alam presided over
the special programme and delivered an important speech.
He highlighted the significance of Amar Ekushey in the history of the nation
and said that the spirit of Amar Ekushey first sowed the seed of the War of
Liberation to ultimately lead the nation to achieve independence through the
War of Liberation in 1971.
The discussion and reminiscences were attended by RSSP adviser and heroic
freedom fighter Professor Abdus Sobhan, writer, cultural personality Dr
Mofizul Islam Maantu, SM Amjad Hossain Sarkar, Abdul Latif Sarkar, Dr Nawazis
Sharif, Dr Achhifa Ishrat Tanima and Regina Safrin.
Poet ATM Morshed recited his self-composed poems dedicated to the language
martyrs.
Prof Mohammad Shah Alam, Mehedi Masud, Parsa Rahman Ashabari participated in
the poem recitation. Music was performed by Mouno Mostafiz and renowned
musician Azibar Rahman.
Assistant Literary Secretary of RSSP Mehedi Masud conducted the whole event.
At the event, speakers called on every conscious citizen to spread true
national history among the young generation in accordance with the spirit of
Amar Ekushey, with the aim of building a developed, peaceful and progressive
Bangladesh rich in the spirit of patriotism.
