Bogura election: 53.14pc voter turnout recorded in first 6.5 hours

BOGURA, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) – A total of 53.14 percent voter turnout was recorded across the seven constituencies of Bogura district during the first six and a half hours of polling in the 13th National Parliamentary Election today.

This average percentage, which excludes postal ballots, reflects the electoral status as of 2:00 PM. 

Additional District Election Officer Atiya Khatun confirmed the figures at 2:30 PM on Thursday.

Polling commenced promptly at 7:30 AM across the district. Long queues of voters were observed at various centers well before the gates opened. The atmosphere has remained peaceful, with citizens waiting in an orderly manner to exercise their rights of franchise.

Bogra district, comprising 12 Upazilas and 12 Municipalities, is witnessing a competitive election with 34 candidates vying for seats across seven constituencies. Contesting candidates represent various parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, and the Jatiya Party.

To facilitate the voting process, the administration has established 983 polling centers. A total of 5,478 booths are in operation, consisting of 5,148 permanent and 330 temporary booths.

The total number of registered voters in the district stands at 2,981,940. 

Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md. Towfiqur Rahman stated that comprehensive measures have been implemented to ensure transparency and safety. Closed-circuit (CC) cameras have been installed in all polling centers to monitor the voting environment.

To maintain law and order, a robust security detail has been deployed, including over 2,500 Police personnel, over 12,500 Ansar and VDP members, 24 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), over 1,500 Army personnel and over 250 Ansar Battalion members.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Towfiqur Rahman emphasized that the local administration remains on maximum alert to uphold the integrity of the election. 

He reiterated that every measure is in place to ensure voters can cast their ballots without any hindrance.
