CMP commissioner stresses professionalism, vigilance in policing

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali today instructed officers of all police stations and the intelligence department to discharge their responsibilities with the highest level of professionalism, vigilance and accountability to maintain law and order.

He also encouraged them to adopt a more proactive and effective approach in combating drug-related activities, theft, robbery, extortion and activities of juvenile gangs.

The CMP commissioner issued the directives at a monthly crime review meeting for July 2026, held at the conference room of the CMP headquarters in Dampara this morning.

Chaired by Shawkat Ali, the meeting reviewed the performance of various police stations, the crime situation and progress in resolving cases.

The CMP commissioner emphasized the need to provide effective and prompt police services to the people by ensuring the swift resolution of murder cases and prompt action on other complaints.

The relevant officers were also directed to improve the case resolution rate and expedite the execution of warrants.

He also directed officers to take strict legal action against unfit and unauthorized vehicles to improve traffic management and stressed the need for effective strategies to maintain order on the roads.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Faisal Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Hossain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan, along with other senior police officials, attended the meeting.
