RAJSHAHI, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) – Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election, vigorous campaigning is underway in Rajshahi and its surrounding constituencies.

Candidates, along with their activists and supporters, are rushing to meet voters in their respective areas, listening to their concerns and making various promises.

In Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanore) constituency, the BNP and its affiliated organizations held three separate election rallies in Panchandar Union of Tanore from Saturday morning until noon.

Major General (Retd) Sharif Uddin, BNP-nominated candidate for the constituency, attended rallies at Kachua, Elamdahi, and Koel School grounds in Panchandar Union as the chief guest and sought votes.

Meanwhile, Jamaat candidate and the party’s Central Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman continued his campaign in different areas of the constituency.

During the canvassing, he pledged to create employment opportunities for the youth, ensure women’s safety and dignity, secure fair rights for farmers and workers, and eliminate social inequality.

He also said Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to establishing people’s rights, ensuring good governance, and building a justice-based society.

In Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) constituency, BNP-nominated candidate Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon carried out mass outreach activities in various areas of Paba–Mohanpur from Saturday morning.

He said he has long been connected with the people of Paba-Mohanpur and is well aware of the area’s problems and needs. If elected, he said, he would prioritize development initiatives, with a key focus on improving the communication system.

He also pledged to work for the overall development of the country and the area by implementing the 31-point programme announced by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Campaigning by the Scales symbol has intensified in the same constituency.

Claiming an enthusiastic response during mass outreach, Scales candidate Professor Abul Kalam Azad said, “A new Bangladesh will be built by the hands of the youth. The July Uprising was led by young people. Therefore, through education and training, the youth will be transformed into skilled builders of the nation.”

Speaking during an election outreach event at Haripur Union in Paba Upazila, he added, “Employment will be created with dignity and merit, not through unemployment allowances. A self-reliant Bangladesh can be built by harnessing the strength of the youth. To achieve this goal, victory for the Scales symbol must be ensured in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.”

In Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara) constituency, BNP candidate DM Ziaur Rahman Zia said that if voters elect him as an MP by voting for the Sheaf of Paddy symbol, he will ensure public healthcare and civic services.

On the other hand, Jamaat-nominated candidate Dr Abdul Bari Sardar emphasized eliminating bribery, corruption, terrorism, and extortion, and building a justice-based society.

In Rajshahi-6 (Charghat-Bagha) constituency, Jamaat candidate Principal Nazmul Haque said, “This election brings an opportunity. We will begin the journey of a new Bangladesh, Insha’Allah. The corruption of the last 54 years will not remain.”

He made these remarks as the chief guest at an election roadside meeting in Bagha Municipality on Saturday.

Meanwhile, BNP-nominated candidate Abu Saeed Chand for the Rajshahi-6 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is campaigning tirelessly, reaching fields and farmlands as well as neighborhoods.

On Saturday, from morning to evening, BNP candidate Chand sought votes door to door in various areas of Yusufpur Union in Charghat Upazila. Going door to door, he is seeking votes for the Sheaf of Paddy symbol, listening to voters’ grievances, and making promises.
