Outlining his development plans, he said priority would be given to improving sanitation, resolving the safe drinking water crisis, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening legal aid services. He also pledged to transform Kachua into a model municipality and ensure the use of fresh water through canal excavation and better utilization of the Baleshwar River.

Barrister Zakir Hossain said initiatives would be taken to boost agricultural production, including sugarcane, millet, rice, tomatoes, maize, leafy vegetables, lentils, betel nut and coconut, through proper use of fresh water.

He also announced plans to expand lobster cultivation using modern technology and to provide easy-term loans to fish farmers and fishermen.

He further said he would play an active role in parliament to ensure rehabilitation, education, and one-time financial assistance for families of fishermen affected by natural disasters and those who lost their lives at sea, and would work toward enacting necessary laws.
