KHULNA, Jan 2, 2026 (BSS) – Scrutiny of nomination papers of the candidates contesting the Jatiya Sangsad election continued for the third consecutive day in Khulna today.
As the scrutiny of the papers of Khulna-5 and Khulna-6 constituencies began at 10 am, nomination papers of three candidates, including nominees of the Jatiya Party were cancelled while one nomination was kept pending.
District Returning Officer ASM Jamshed Khondaker said, nomination papers of eight candidates were declared valid.
The candidates whose nomination papers were cancelled are Jatiya Party nominee Shamim Ara Parveen (Yasin) from Khulna-5 constituency and Jatiya Party nominee Md Mostafa Kamal Jahangir and independent candidate Md Asadul Biswas from Khulna-6 constituency.
In addition, the nomination paper of Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Khulna-5 constituency was kept pending.
The valid candidates in Khulna-5 constituency are Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Golam Parwar, BNP candidate Mohammad Ali Asgar, Bangladesh Communist Party candidate Chitta Ranjan Goladar and Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis candidate Md Abdul Qayyum Jamaddar.
The valid candidates in Khulna-6 constituency are BNP candidate SM Monirul Hasan Bappi, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Abul Kalam Azad, Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate Md Asadullah Fakir and Bangladesh Communist Party candidate Prashanta Kumar Mondal.
