JASHORE, Aug 23, 2026 (BSS) - The district Detective Branch (DB) of police in a drive arrested three alleged criminals with a firearm and ammunition from Bagmara area of Abhaynagar upazila of the district last night.

The arrested were identified as Al Amin Sheikh, 28, Md. Billal Khan, 36, and Md. Juel Gazi, 30.

Acting on a tip-off, a DB team conducted an operation at Halimer Mor in Chalishia Bagmara village around 8.45 pm on Friday. The DB team initially arrested Al Amin Sheikh and Billal Khan.

At that time, in the presence of residents, police recovered a locally made single-shot gun and two bullets from Al Amin's possession.

Based on information provided by the two detainees, police later conducted another operation and arrested Juel Gazi, and three motorcycles were seized from his possession.

Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Mirajul Islam confirmed the matter and said a case under the Arms Act had been filed with Abhaynagar Police Station in connection with the incident.

The three arrested persons are being prepared to be produced before a court, police said.
