JHENAIDAH, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day was observed in the district today with the theme of “We will take our skills abroad, build our homeland with remittances.”

Marking the day, a colorful rally was brought out at 10:00 am from the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office. The rally paraded through the main streets of the town and concluded at the DC office premises.

Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdullah Al Masud attended the event as the chief guest.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) ABM Khalid Hasan, Additional District Magistrate Subir Kumar Das, Additional Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman, President of Jhenaidah Press Club Asif Kajal, Chief Instructor of Jhenaidah Technical Training Center Md. Asaduzzaman, among others, spoke at the meeting.

The programme was presided over by Assistant Director of the District Employment and Manpower Office Md. Samiul Islam.

In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner said that International Migrants Day is being observed across Bangladesh with due dignity, alongside National Expatriates Day to honor the country’s remittance-earning expatriate workers. 

He extended heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all Bangladeshi expatriates living at home and abroad, acknowledging their contribution to the national economy.

During the discussion, several expatriate workers shared their experiences, highlighted various problems they face, and urged the authorities to take prompt measures to address their concerns.
