KURIGRAM, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - A meeting of the District Law and Order Committee was held this morning to ensure fair, peaceful and impartial voting in the upcoming elections.
The meeting took place at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office, with Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram, Annapurna Debnath attending as the chief guest.
Police Superintendent Khandaker Fazle Rabbi, Commanding Officer of Kurigram Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Lieutenant Colonel Mahbub Ul Haque and Kurigram Army Camp Commander Captain SM Rafsan Ahmed addressed the meeting.
Additional Deputy Commissioner BM Kudrat A Khuda, District BNP Convener Mostafizur Rahman, District BNP Senior Joint Convener Professor Shafiqul Islam Bebu, District Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Nizam Uddin, and senior journalist Syed Ahmed Babu also spoke.
Speakers said the district administration, police, army and BGB are on the highest alert to prevent violence, sabotage or any form of chaos surrounding the elections. They warned that any attempt to disrupt the electoral process would be dealt with strictly.
Superintendent of Police Khandaker Fazle Rabbi informed the meeting that a special operation titled "Devil Hunt-2" is currently underway against terrorists and miscreants in connection with the elections. He said regular drives are being conducted to arrest criminals and the operation will continue as needed.
Deputy Commissioner Annapurna Debnath said ensuring fair and acceptable elections is a major responsibility of the administration. She emphasized the need for cooperation from political leaders, journalists and people from all walks of life to maintain law and order.
She urged all concerned to remain vigilant and play a responsible role in ensuring a peaceful election, which speakers noted is essential for strengthening democracy in the country.
