112 improved calves distributed to small ethnic groups in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, Dec 3, 2025 (BSS) - As part of efforts to promote socio-economic development and improve the living standards of marginalized communities, the Department of Livestock distributed 112 improved crossbred calves to small ethnic groups in Raiganj upazila of the district on Wednesday. 

The initiative is being implemented under the Integrated Livestock Development Project.

The distribution programme was held at the Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital premises. 

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Masud Rana presided over the event, while Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr. Aminul Islam moderated the programme.

The ceremony was attended by several officials and community leaders, including Raiganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Shariful Islam, Raiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge K.M. Masud Rana, Upazila Jubo Dal President Abdur Razzak Rana and General Secretary Obaidullah Khan Paris.

Speakers highlighted that the improved crossbred cattle would play a significant role in boosting income, enhancing animal husbandry, and promoting sustainable development for the backward small ethnic communities of the upazila.

During the programme, the 112 calves were distributed among the beneficiaries from various unions, who expressed their gratitude to the government and requested the continuation of such supportive initiatives in the future.
