JHENAIDAH, Dec 3, 2025 (BSS) - The 34th International Day of Disabled Persons and the 27th National Day of Disabled Persons were observed in the district with various programmes aimed at promoting an inclusive society under the theme “Build a disability-inclusive society, accelerate social progress.”
Marking the day, a colorful procession was brought out from the Deputy Commissioner’s office at 10 am on Wednesday. Organized by the District Social Services Office and the Disabled Services and Support Center under the initiative of the district administration, the procession paraded key roads of the town before concluding at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.
Led by Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdullah Al Masud, the rally saw participation from teachers, students and employees of various educational institutions for persons with disabilities, along with officials of different government departments.
Following the procession, a discussion meeting was held where Additional District Magistrate Subir Kumar Das, Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Md. Abdul Quader, and Registration Officer Md. Hasanuzzaman addressed the participants.
Speaking at the event, Additional Deputy Commissioner Subir Kumar Das said that persons with speech, hearing and physical disabilities are integral members of society. “They are our children; they are not a burden. We want to build a harmonious and beautiful Bangladesh with them,” he added.
Later, wheelchairs were distributed among helpless and elderly persons with disabilities as part of the day’s program.
