Former MP Fazle Karim remanded for 3 days in a murder case in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, November 24, 2025 (BSS) - Former MP and Awami League leader of Chattogram-6, Raozan constituency, ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, has been granted a three-day remand by a court in a murder case at Chawkbazar Thana in the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday.
 
Metropolitan Magistrate Ibrahim Khalil granted the remand after a hearing where Fazle Karim Chowdhury was virtually connected. The CID had requested a 5-day remand in the murder case, but the court granted a three-day remand after the hearing.
 
Since August 5 last year, at least a dozen cases have been filed against former MP Fazle Karim with different police stations of the district on various charges including murder, kidnapping, ransom, attempted murder, and possession of weapons, land grabbing at gunpoint, vandalism, and encroachment.

On the morning of September 12 last year, ABM Fazle Karim was arrested by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the Abdullahpur area of Akhaura border in Brahmanbaria.

He was attempting to enter India illegally through the Akhaura border. Prior to this incident, he had a total of 14 cases registered against him in Chattogram. He was transported to Chattogram by helicopter on September 19 to face charges in these cases.
