BGB seizes Tk 43.68cr smuggled goods on Jashore border in 7 months

JASHORE, July 22, 2025(BSS) - The 49th battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth about Taka 43,68,00,000 from the bordering areas of the district in first seven months of the year.

The border force also arrested 69 smugglers from the area during their drives.

The 49th battalion of the BGB has been guarding 70-kilometer border of the district with Indian state of West Bengal and trying to resist cross-border smuggling.

Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commanding officer (CO) of BGB 49th battalion, told BSS that they seized seven kilograms (KGs) and 554 grams of smuggled gold, 70.5 KGs silver, 37,80,000 US dollars, a country made pistol with seven rounds of bullet, 7500 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, 1862 bottles of foreign liquor, 17000 pieces of narcotic related injections, 197 KGs of cannabis and huge Indian sarees, three pieces, blankets, cosmetics and medicines during the time.
