DHAKA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today plunged as deteriorating investor sentiment pushed most scrip into the red.
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, shed 7.5 points and settled at 4,959 points as against 4,967 points in the previous trading session.
However, market turnover increased by 2.7% to Taka 3.8 billion from Taka 3.7 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Pharma (15.5%) accounted for the highest share of turnover, followed by Textile (13.6%) and General Insurance (13.5%).
Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which General Insurance (-2.1%), Ceramic (-1.6%) and Travel (-1.1%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today, while Food (0.7%), Tannery (0.7%) and Telecom (0.6%) exhibited the most positive returns.
Of the 397 issues traded, 101 advanced, 215 declined, and 81 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) advanced by 9.2 points and 6.0 points, respectively.
