DHAKA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today met with family members of July Uprising martyrs and injured individuals present in a visitors' gallery in the parliament here during a break in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) session.

Amid his busy schedule of official works, a humane moment unfolded suddenly in the parliament as the Prime Minister went to the gallery during a break in the formal proceedings. 

On Sunday evening, Tarique Rahman, also ruling BNP chairman, met family members of martyrs and injured participants in the July Uprising at the 'Meghna' gallery in the parliament, breaking down the walls of formality and distance and creating a cordial atmosphere there.

During his visit, he talked to everyone, and inquired about their conditions, listened to their grief and consoled them by placing his hand on their heads and shoulders, demonstrating empathy and compassion as some were still carrying deep grief, while others showed signs of ongoing hardship. 

Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said around 60 people from families associated with the July Uprising from across the country were present in the gallery. 

Among them, 26 were family members of martyrs, while the rest were injured participants, many of whom are still undergoing treatment, he added.

They shared their sorrows and woes with the Prime Minister, Ruman said, adding, the premier listened to each of them with sincerity. 

While sharing their experiences, some of them broke down in tears in front of the Prime Minister, he said, adding, at that time, Tarique Rahman consoled them by patting their heads and assured them that the current government will always remain beside the July fighters.
