DHAKA, May 12, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Emerging Women’s team earned a consolation victory after beating visiting South African counterpart by 14 runs in the third and final one-day game at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday.
Bangladesh which lost the first two matches by five wickets and two wickets finally conceded the series 2-1.
In the third match, they opted to bat first and compiled a respectable 253-8 with opener Ishma Tanjim making team-high 57.
Afia Asima Era scored 44 while Shorna Akter made a quick 30 ball-41 not out to help the side propel past 250.
Chasing the victory target of 254, South African Emerging Women’s team were bowled out for 239 in 49.4 overs despite half-centuries from Simone Lourens (68) and Faye Tunnicliffe (55).
After playing a rapid knock with the willow, Shorna wrecked havoc on South African batting line up by claiming 3-41. Sabekunnahar grabbed 2-49.
The two teams will now engage in a three-match T20 series, with the first match on May 14 at Cox’s Bazar Cricket Academy ground. The second and third T20 is on May 14 and 16 at the same venue.
