No election engineering this time: EC Abdur Rahmanel Masud

RANGPUR, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS) - Election Commissioner (EC) Abdur Rahmanel Masud 
today said that there will be no election engineering this time and there is 
a sufficiently supportive environment for the upcoming national polls. 
 
"We are going to different places. Some 1.8 million officials and employees 
including returning officers, assistant returning officers, police force, 
BGB, army, Ansar-VDP are engaged in election works. All committed to giving 
the nation a good election," he added. 
 
He said this while exchanging views with local journalists on the occasion of 
13th Jatiya Sangsad Election and Referendum at Rangpur Circuit House on 
Saturday afternoon as the chief guest. 
 
Members of the District Law and Order Cell, Vigilance and Observation Team, 
Election Investigation and Judicial Committee, and Executive Magistrates in 
charge of six parliamentary constituencies of Rangpur district participated 
in the meeting. 
 
The Election Commissioner said that there is no pressure on the Election 
Commission regarding the current situation in the country. However, 
cooperation is required to make the election easy and acceptable. 
 
"Our clear message is that we are against these movements that are 
detrimental to the election. The people must take up their activities to 
ensure a fair environment for the election," he continued. 
 
EC Abdur Rahmanel said that there have been major changes in the country's 
political environment and voting culture. The leaders of the two major 
parties have kept the promise of the Election Commission to maintain a fair 
environment for holding the election. 
 
Party leaders who disagree with the Election Commission have removed their 
posters and canceled their tours. 
 
"The words that political party leaders are saying against each other are 
part of the election war, a political strategy. We condemn all kinds of 
violence and killings in the country," he said. 
 
Rahmanel Masud said the law enforcement agencies have been asked to conduct a 
fair investigation in the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi at the same time. 

Rangpur District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul 
Ahsan presided over the meeting.
 
At that time, Regional Election Officer Delwar Hossain, Rangpur District 
Police Superintendent Marufat Hussaine, Metropolitan Police Deputy 
Commissioner Toffael Hossain and other officials were present.
