DHAKA, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS) - Former Bangladesh Captain Mahmudullah Riyad, who
has retired from international cricket, has expressed his desire to continue
playing domestic and franchise cricket as long as he feels fit and motivated.

"I don't know which direction my life will take, but I am enjoying my life at
the moment. I am still fit, so I want to continue playing cricket,"
Mahmudullah told reporters here today.

"How long I will continue will depend on my fitness, performance, and how my
body responds," he added.

The 40-year old veteran said he would step away from the game once he feels
the hunger and drive are no longer there.

"If I feel the hunger or drive isn't there, I won't play. But right now, the
hunger is still there, so I want to continue," he said.

Mahmudullah featured for Rangpur Riders in the most recent Bangladesh Premier
League (BPL) season and delivered a satisfactory performance. He also hinted
at representing other domestic and international franchise teams if
opportunities arise.

"I am trying to keep myself fit. If I get opportunities in the BPL, the
Premier League, or other leagues, I will play," he added.
