National Swimming competition begins tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2023 (BSS) - Max Group 32nd National Swimming Diving and Water Polo competition begins from tomorrow (Sunday) at Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in city's Mirpur.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, is expected to inaugurate the five-day meet as the chief guest on Monday (October 16), one day after the formal competition kicks off.

Bangladesh Swimming Federation's (BSF) president and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan will be present there as the special guest in the opening ceremony.

BSF's general secretary MB Saif will preside over the opening ceremony.

Nearly 550 swimmers from fifty two teams including Divisional Sports Association, District Sports Association, Swimming Club, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP), Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and Border Guard Bangladesh are expected to participate in the meet, organized by BSF.

Max Group has continued their support to BSF by sponsoring this competition.
 
A total of thirty eight events in swimming (men's U-19 and women's U-19), three in men's diving and one in Water Polo will be held in the competition.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the winning swimmers while the champions and runners-up will get trophy.

In addition, the best male and female swimmers will get trophy.

BSF president and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan is expected to be present in the closing ceremony as the chief guest on October 19 and distribute the prizes.

In this regard, a press conference was held today (Saturday) at Bangladesh Olympic Association's auditorium to provide all the details of the meet.

BSF's general secretary MB Saif, its vice president Abdul Hamid, treasurer Md. Rezaul Hossain Badsha and joint secretary Selim Mia, among others, were present in the press conference.
