National Table Tennis Competition begins Saturday

DHAKA, July 20, 2023 (BSS) - The 39th National Table Tennis Competition will begin on Saturday (July 22) at Chattogram Rifles Club in Chattogram.

Organised by Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation, under the management of Chattogram District Sports Association, the competition will continue till July 29.

A total of 230 players - 113 men, 43 women, 46 boys and 28 girls -- from five divisions, twenty eight districts, three services teams and one university team across the country will take part in the competition.

The five divisions are Khulna, Barisal, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet.

Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP and Biman Bangladesh Airlines are participating from the services team while Bangladesh Engineering University will compete from the university.

The competition will be in men's team event, women's team event, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, boys U-18 singles and girls U-18 singles events. The estimated cost of the competition is Taka twenty two lakh. Out of this, Chattogram District Sports Association will provide Taka thirteen lakh, UCB Bank Taka five lakh and Polar Ice Cream Taka four lakh.

In this regards, a press conference was held today (Thursday) at the conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium to provide all the details of the meet.

Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation's (BTTF) president Mejbah Uddin, BTTF's vice president Khondkar Hasan Munir, BTTF's general secretary Sheikh Mohammad Jahangir Alam, media committee chairman Saidul Haque Sadi, among others, were present at the press conference.
