CHATTOGRAM, Sept 3, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard has thwarted an attempt to smuggle out fertilizers to Myanmar and arrested three suspected smugglers, seizing 11 tonnes of the plant food from their possession.
Coast Guard spokesman Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan told reporters their troops intercepted when the fertilisers were being loaded to a fishing boat from a truck on Wednesday Dabirkhal area of Halishahar, being tipped off by a source.
“The truck which was being used in the smuggling attempt too was confiscated alongside the KAFCO-produced fertiliser,” he said.
According to the coastguard spokesman the estimated value of the confiscated fertilizer is Tk 5.5 lakh.
The arrested suspects were handed over to police for subsequent legal actions.
