RAB steps up security for Janmashtami across Bangladesh

DHAKA, Sept 3, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken extensive security measures across the country to ensure peaceful and uninterrupted celebrations of Janmashtami, the Hindu religious festival marking the birth of Lord Krishna, scheduled to be observed tomorrow.

According to a RAB press release, it has deployed adequate personnel at temples, puja mandaps, event venues and other key locations across the country.

Regular patrols have been intensified, while intelligence surveillance in plainclothes has also been strengthened to prevent any untoward incident.

The elite force said each of its battalions has reviewed potential security threats and prepared area-specific security plans for the festival.

Intelligence activities have been intensified to collect advance information and identify any possible threats.

RAB is also maintaining close surveillance on the activities and movements of extremist groups, banned organisations and other elements that may attempt to disrupt the celebrations.

Special security arrangements have been made for important persons, religious leaders, priests and foreign nationals attending Janmashtami programmes.

Security measures have also been strengthened around Janmashtami processions. Adequate RAB personnel will be deployed at the front, rear and both sides of processions, while reserve forces will remain ready to respond to any emergency.

RAB's cyber monitoring activities have also been intensified to identify and prevent the spread of rumours, misinformation, provocative posts, comments, images and other online content that could undermine communal harmony.

The force said it is working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, the administration and intelligence agencies to ensure a safe environment for the celebrations.

RAB has urged people to celebrate Janmashtami peacefully and safely and requested the public to immediately inform the nearest law enforcement agency about any suspicious person, object or activity.

The force expressed hope that public awareness and cooperation would help ensure the smooth and peaceful completion of all Janmashtami programmes across the country.
