DHAKA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today showed former member of parliament (MP) from Jhalkathi-1 constituency Barrister M Shahjahan Omar arrested in a case filed over the killing of Ishak Jamaddar during the July 2024 Mass Uprising.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police produced Omar before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the case. The court later sent him back to jail.
 
Ishak, 47, joined a victory rally in the Shyamoli field area under Adabor Police Station in the capital on August 5, 2024. The rally came under attack, leaving Ishak shot dead on the spot.
 
The case was filed with Adabor Police Station on September 2, 2024.
