DHAKA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 71 people in separate special drives in the Jatrabari, Turag, Mohammadpur, Lalbagh and Bangshal areas of the capital on Saturday.

Of the total, 26 were arrested by Jatrabari and Turag police, while 45 were arrested by Mohammadpur, Lalbagh and Bangshal police, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Jatrabari police arrested 16 people from different crime-prone areas, while Turag police arrested 10 during the drives.

Meanwhile, Mohammadpur police arrested 32 people, Lalbagh police eight and Bangshal police five in separate operations in their respective areas.

The arrestees include accused in regular and warrant cases as well as people allegedly involved in various criminal activities, police said.

Legal action has been taken against the arrested people.
