DHAKA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized drugs and smuggled goods worth Tk 5.26 lakh in separate anti-smuggling drives in Jashore border areas today.

Patrol teams of Benapole and Shikarpur Border Outposts (BOPs) and Benapole International Check Post (ICP) under Jashore Battalion (49 BGB) recovered 20 kgs of Indian cannabis, 35 sarees, two blankets, 28 packets of fuska, 2.5 kgs of cumin, 1.5 kgs of raisins, three packets of sonpapri and 179 cosmetic items, according to two separate press releases issued by the force tonight.

Jashore Battalion Commander Lt Col Golam Mohammad Saiful Alam Khan said intelligence-based operations against drug trafficking and smuggling would continue along the border.

Meanwhile, Maheshpur Battalion (58 BGB) organised a public awareness meeting at the Dhopakhali Secondary School ground under Madhabkhali BOP today.

He also called for vigilance against possible smuggling of fertiliser to India and urged residents not to cross the zero line, visit the border area after dusk, graze cattle along the zero line or enter Indian territory.
