DHAKA, Aug 28, 2026 (BSS)- A court today sent one Suman Mia to jail in a case filed over the alleged sexual assault of a six-year-old child in the capital’s Shah Ali area.

Police produced Suman, a neighbor of the child, before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court today and sought his detention in jail until completion of the investigation.

After hearing the plea, Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ismail ordered that Suman be sent to jail.

The incident allegedly occurred at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday in the Royal City Pocket Gate area under Shah Ali Police Station.

The child’s mother took the child to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for medical treatment.

Police arrested Suman from a house near the Royal City Pocket Gate area under Shah Ali Police Station at around 8:00 pm on Thursday.
The mother filed a case with Shah Ali Police Station on Thursday in connection with the incident.
